Pat's Camp experience includes 6 years as a camper and 5 years as a counselor. Pat believes that Camp Whitley is a gem of Whitley County. Steeped in tradition and well supported by community, thru individuals, businesses and industries of Whitley County. Camp is a magical place where a child can grow in many ways in the period of a week. Pat's favorite part of Camp is watching a camper grow in the areas of trust, teamwork and confidence. Pat wants to utilize his life skills and experiences to continue the growth and future of Camp Whitley.
Shannon was born and raised in Columbia City and raised her three children here, as well. She loves our beautiful county, our community, being outdoors in all weather, educating myself and others, hanging out with kids but most of all she loves camp! Her children are third generation campers and they plan on continuing that tradition with their own families. She became a part of the board in order to do what I can to help usher Camp Whitley into the future while never losing our past!
Holly grew up in Columbia City and attended Camp Whitley in the early 90s. She loves Camp Whitley and decided to join the Board in 2022. Holly is looking forward to helping the organization succeed for many years to come. She believes everyone should have the opportunity to experience the joys of summer camp!
Zakary joined the board at the end of 2022, and is thrilled to be able to give back to Camp Whitley as an adult. An 8-time camper when he was a child, his goal as part of the board is to keep those magical experiences he had alive for years to come. While his family grew up in Columbia City, Zakary is a new transplant from Fort Wayne. He’s excited to be able to make an impact in his new community through camp.
Dee Conn is returning to her roots in Whitley County after retiring from teaching in Goshen Community Schools. She began her teaching career at Passages Preschool in Columbia City and joined the Jaycees in Churubusco. She served in the Jaycees for 10 years. In 2015 Dee was Guilder Lehrman’s Indiana History Teacher of the Year. Camp Whitley was a staple in her family with three generations attending camp. Dee is full of camp stories and continues friendships with several friends she made at camp.
Shannon was a 6 year camper and enjoyed every minutes of it. Growing up and going to Camp Whitley was a tradition. She has many fun and fond memories from her years at camp. She never got to experience being a counselor, so she's making it up by being on the board! She hopes to make it a great experience for every camper.
Raven grew up in Columbia City and recently moved back to be closer to family and watch her stepson grow up here. Raven is a local business owner and hopes to use her skill set (marketing and design) to make a difference for her community by volunteering her time to the board. Raven has not attended camp (even though she wanted to as a kid), but she is excited to help make the joys of summer camp possible for other children in the community!
Darrin joined the board in March 2023.
Marie joined the board in fall 2023.
